- Finger v1.3.5 & Fingerd v1.3.5 is an implementation of the UNIX Finger
- protocol for Macs with MacTCP. Fingerd is a background only application
- that allows you to be fingered, while Finger is a finger client, allowing
- you to finger other machines, as well as allowing others to finger you.
- Both are System 7 friendly (but hopefully not dependent).
-
- Changes in this version:
- Actually included the correct version of the daemon (oops :-), fixing the
- bug with QUIT appleevents that caused Fingerd to crash on Shutdown
- Added a setable default for the Finger window
- Colourized icons - Thanks to Don Nash for the icons!
- Fixed it so that the strings which are returned by tokens are translated 7->8
- Fixed %LOOKUP to not uppercase the line.
- Added a menu item to save the finger hierarchical menu
- Added a preference to automatically open the Finger window on startup
- Added Option-Quit to quit Fingerd & Finger.
- Change "Finger" to "Whois" when you click the Whois check box
- Reversed the position of user & machine so user comes first
- Allow chained fingering in the client (eg root@foo.edu@bar.edu)
- Should be more difficult to crash with out of memory, though still not impossible.
- Fixed the edit menu selections.
- Changed %LOG to put a time stamp in as well.
-
- They are Povertyware, which basically means you get to send me five
- dollars if you can. If you use these programs, drop me a note and say hello!
-
- Hope you like them,
- Peter <peter@cujo.curtin.edu.au>.
